About
My main degree is in Civil Engineering and that was back in year 2000 in Cardiff University/UK. Following my first degree, I obtained an MSc in Structural Engineering from the same university. Soon I finished my MSc course, I was awarded an EPSRC scholarship in order to do my PhD, which was in the area of Ultra High Performance Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composites. I successfully completed my research in the beginning of 2005, and then join University College London for a graduate degree (MSc) in Project and Enterprises Management with particular focus on managing research funds and educational institutions. Following the completion of the graduate course in UCL, I worked as a research fellow in Cardiff School of Engineering, on a project studying the effects of positive and negative bending moments on the performance of composite reinforced concrete flooring systems. From January 2007, I hold a research fellow position in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department in the University of Cyprus. Currently, my research involves Self Compacting Concrete as well as the development of ultra high performance cementitious composites. Moreover, I have a strong interest in fracture and solid mechanics.
I am member of American Concrete Institute participating in technical committees TC-130, TC-236 and TC-237 (Sustainability of Concrete, Material Science of Concrete and Self-Consolidating Concrete) and RILEM participating in the technical committees TC-MPS (Mechanical Properties of SCC) and TC-PSC (Performance-based specifications and control of concrete durability).
I am also reviewer for the: International Journal of Fracture – Structural Engineering and Mechanics, ACI Structural Journal and ASCE Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering
